Allies at Yale Protest Government Pressure on Higher Education

Stand Up for Yale and sympathetic organizations held an on-campus teach-in, "Democratize Yale," on August 27. Speakers and attendees urged the university to fight Justice Department pressure, such as intrusive investigations into admissions practices at Yale College and the schools of Medicine and Law.

Speakers discussed four demands:

  • democratizing University governance

  • codifying academic freedom

  • relaxing restrictions on protests

  • refusing to negotiate with the Trump administration over the investigation into admissions

Attendees included students, faculty, staff, alumni, and neighbors such as New Haven union members. Read more in the Yale Daily News.
